Peck, Martin W. (1880-1940)
Biographical
Note: Born
in Vermont, Martin Peck graduated from the Harvard Medical School
in 1915.
He served as first lieutenant in the Army Medical Corps in 1918-1919.
His training in psychiatry began in 1919 at the Sheppard Enoch Bratt
Hospital and continued at the Boston Psychopathic Hospital. He
was instrumental in founding
the Boston Psychoanalytic
Society and served as its president from 1931 to 1937. He was an editor
of
the Psychoanalytic Quarterly, and the author of a popular book "The
Meaning of Psychoanalysis" (1931) as well as many papers on the
applications of psychiatry to general practice.
Summary: the collection consists of one
manuscript box
of correspondence, papers, notes, clippings, and biographical
materials. BPSI Audiovisual Archive holds an interview with Mrs. Martin
Peck conducted and recorded by Dr. Sanford Gifford in 1972
(audio
