The Center for Advanced Psychoanalytic
Studies Archive, 1955-present
The Center
for Advanced Psychoanalytic Studies (CAPS)
in Princeton, New Jersey, is a collaborative association of
psychoanalysts founded in 1960 by Samuel A. Guttmann and
Muriel Gardiner. The
Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute provides storage for
the CAPS records on its premises. All materials in the CAPS Archive
are property of the Center for Advanced
Psychoanalytic Studies.
Summary: the
archive contains 10 drawers of documents pertaining to the history,
administration, and operation of the Center for Advance Psychoanalytic
Studies. Materials reflect the activities of the CAPS study groups, Princeton
and Aspen conferences and meetings. Included are member
files, correspondence, by-laws, accreditations, financial and
legal documents, historic manuscripts and photographs.
Access to the collection is restricted to the CAPS members.
